Meanwhile Senators have asked the President, Major General Muhammadu (retd.), to dismiss Nigeria's service chiefs over the growing security challenges facing the country.

This was contained in a statement detailing the resolution of the senators after the upper chamber's plenary on Wednesday.

Earlier, the House of Representatives had asked the service chiefs to resign or be sacked by the retired general.

The senators accused the service chiefs of running out of ideas to tackle security challenges faced by Nigeria.
