A leading pro democracy group in Kwara State, Kwara Must Change has called on corporate consumer goods stores such as Shoprite and others to support government efforts in preventing the spread of Corona Virus to Kwara State.

In a statement by Kwara Must Change's state coordinator, Comrade Yusuf Moyosore Olatunji, the group stated that Shoprite and other consumer goods stores have a corporate social responsibility to support the state in trying times such as this.

According to Yusuf, Shoprite and others can support the state by providing food items to the poor and vulnerable in our communities, which would limit the impacts of the lockdown imposed on the state as a result of the deadly pandemic.

"We are asking that they support the poor and vulberables in communities with food items such as rice, beans, palm oil, beverages and others"

Kwara Must Change noted that, "we are not asking Shoprite and others to go beyond their means in assisting, in a way that would affect their businesses, we are simply saying that they have the capacity to assist in this period of global emergency as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility roles, and we encourage them to do as much as they can.
