Security: Yoruba Unity Forum lauds Oyetola
'Amotekun a child of necessity,' says Oyetola

The leadership of the Yoruba Unity Forum on Wednesday applauded the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State for prioritising security of lives and property of the citizens.

The Forum also commended Oyetola on his contribution to the birth of the Southwest Joint Security Network codenamed 'Amotekun'. This is just as the Governor described Amotekun as a child of necessity, saying with its emergence, the region has become a secure haven.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Forum to the Governor's office in Abere, Osogbo, the Chairman of the Forum, Arch Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu commended Oyetola for the good works his administration has been doing over the last one year, adding that the landmark achievements recorded so far have proven that the governor's campaign slogan 'Ileri Oluwa' had been fufilled in the lives of the people of the State.

*Oyetola names Ige, former Osun CP Security Adviser* 

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun, has named a former Commissioner of Police in the State, Mrs. Abiodun Adebola Ige as his Special Adviser on Security Matters.  

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Ismail Omipidan, who announced this in a statement on Tuesday, said the appointment takes immediate effect. 

He further noted that Ige's appointment was in line with the commitment of Governor Oyetola to the security of the State. The statement further wished the appointee success in her new assignment. 

*Education Review Policy: Osun reverses single uniform,  mixed schools,  4-5-3-4* 
...retains Opon Imo

The State Government of Osun, has announced the adoption of new education policies in the State, reversing the extant 4-5-3-4 policy to the 6-3-3-4 system, while also setting aside the single uniform regime. But it retained Opon Imo, otherwise known as Tablet of Knowledge.

This was made known at the Press Briefing jointly addressed by the Honorable Commissioners for Information and Civic Orientation, and Education, Mrs. Funke Egbemode and Mr. Olayinka Oladoyin Folorunsho respectively, on behalf of the Government after the State Executive Council meeting, held on Monday 2nd March 2020.

Mrs. Egbemode announced that the decision was reached after an exhaustive  deliberation on the report of the Education Panel set up by the Governor to review some of the extant education practices and policies. She said that the Council unanimously agreed on the ten issues raised in the report and accepted the recommendations.

*Osun Assembly passes Amotekun bill* 

 The Osun House of Assembly on Tuesday read the Osun Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps Establishment Bill 2020 for the third time and subsequently passed the bill into law.

Recall that the Amotekun bill was presented to the Osun Assembly on Feb. 27 where it passed the first reading. Subsequently, a public hearing was held by the Osun Assembly on Feb. 24 to inject stakeholders contributions and suggestions into the bill.

On Tuesday after the bill was read for the third time after the inputs of suggestions from lawmakers, was passed into law.

*Osun clerics laud Oyetola for running developmental governance* 
...as gov holds Fidau prayers for late mother

Clerics in Iragbiji, the country home of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State on Friday showered encomiums on him for his developmental strides and commitment to the welfare of the people since he assumed office.

The Islamic leaders who could not hold back their enthusiasm, applauded the governor for raising the bar of governance and for displaying high sense of commitment to human and capital development in the State.

The clerics gave the applause during the annual Fidau Prayer session organised in honour of late matriarch, Alhaja Wulemat Oyetola, mother of the Governor, at the deceased's residence in Iragbiji.
