Abubakar Sani Bello, the Niger State Governor has append into law a bill passed by the State House of Assembly to set up the Niger State Water and Sewage Corporation to ensure portable water to the residents.

This was revealed in Minna by Barrister Nasara Dan- Malam, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice that the law will be effective starting from the 25th of March, 2020.

Bello disclosed that the importance of the water and sewage corporation law is to accomplishe a developed water system in the State.

“The establishment of an independent, autonomous and commercially viable utility that ensures efficient and sustainable delivery of safe, clean drinking water to the people, ” Bello added.

The establishment of the Niger State Water and Sewage Corporation is the climax of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) sponsored Effective Water Sanitation and Hygiene (E-WASH) program that seeks to give access to potable water to one hundred and fifty thousand households in six states in Nigeria including Niger.
