Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s lead in the Edo Governorship race has gained a major boost with the endorsement of members representing Edo State in the Federal House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

In a joint statement signed by Hon. Peter Akpatason, Hon. Patrick Aisoweren, Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, and Hon. Johnson Oghuma, the members resolved to reaffirm its endorsement of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s bid after ‘extensive consultations’ across the state.

The statement read: “We the undersigned members of the Edo State caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the House of Representatives, following extensive consultations across the state, have resolved to reaffirm our endorsement of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to emerge as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming Governorship election primaries in Edo State.”

The members also declared full support for the direct mode of primary as prescribed by the party’s National Working Committee.

“Furthermore, as loyal members of the party, we hereby restate our full support for the method the party has chosen as the preferred method for the forthcoming gubernatorial primary in Edo State.”

“In reaching this conclusion, we considered safety, security, and logistics reasons as well as political inclusiveness and compliance to COVID-19 regulations,” they said.
