On Wednesday, The Akwa Ibom State Government, released 27 COVID-19 patients in the state after their test results came negative twice from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

This was the most highest number of patients released at once since the state recorded the pandemic case.

Dr. Dominic Ukpong, The Commissioner of Health, who disclosed this at Ibom Multi specialty Hospital, Uyo, said that only five patients were remaining in the isolation centre.

Ukpong, who revealed that the released patients used 19 days at the Isolation center also said further that their respective families have already been contacted, and they were returning to a safe environment.

He further disclosed that no health worker in the state had died due to COVID-19, and appealed them to always protect themselves as they were the first responders in the treatment of the disease.

The statement read in part: “Today is the day we’ve had the largest number of discharged cases. We discharged 27 people today, and that is very large for this state. What makes it significant is that we have not recorded any loss.

“Those people discharged today are going out in good health and I want to mention that their houses and families have already been contacted, they are in self-isolation, we manage them too.”
