Arsenal morning headlines as Mikel Arteta issues David Luiz update and £35.9m swap deal eyed.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - JUNE 17: David Luiz of Arsenal receives a red card from match referee Anthony Taylor during the Premier League match between Manchester City and Arsenal FC at Etihad Stadium on June 17, 2020 in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Arteta reacts to Manchester City defeat

Arsenal lost 3-0 to Manchester City on Wednesday night in a match which was largely decided by David Luiz’s 25 minute cameo.

He replaced the injured Pablo Mari in the 24th minute, then made an error which allowed Raheem Sterling to give City the lead in first-half stoppage time.

Two minutes after the restart the Brazilian fouled Riyad Mahrez in the box to concede a penalty and was sent off as a result.

“He's always going to try to give you his best for the condition that he's at and he's tried again,” Mikel Arteta said after the game. “It didn't work out for him or the team but that's it.
"I don't know what will happen with his contract. I know what happened today, I know the way David reacted, as a player and as a person as well he can handle the situation.”
