Sexual harrasment is not something new among among political position holders in Nigeria although government and other human right organisations are taking different measures to put an end to this menace. Despite the fact that some women use the oppoturnity to blackmail politicians after a misunderstanding between them, but that does’nt invalidate the fact that there is sexual harrassment among the Nigerian polical holders.

Even yesterday, a 54 year old woman identified as Joi Nunieh accused the current minister of Niger Delta, Dr Godswill Akpabio of sexually harrassing her at his guest house in Abuja. Miss Joi Nunieh who was the immediate past managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission made the claim during an interview with Arise TV in Abuja yesterday. She stated that she was removed from office after she slapped the minister when he asked for her permission to sleep with her in his guest house but she refused.
However, Godswill Akpabio in his response denied the allegations by Joi Nunieh and stated that the incident has never happened infact the woman has never been to his guest house. Akpabio added that Miss Joi Nunieh was removed from office because of insubordination and also because she lacked the requisite qualification to occupy the office, as she had no National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, discharge certificate.

Whatever the case may be the truth of the matter cannot be determine now and if the incidence really happened, Miss Joi should have raised the allegations at that time not after her removal from office. Do you think the allegations raised against the minister could be true? Share your view below.
