On Thursday, The Osun State Government announced 24 fresh cases in the State.

The state also said that it has released 11 patients from its isolation center after test proved negative twice for the pandemic virus.

Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, the State’s Commissioner for Health, stated that the lack of compliance to the safety measures and guidelines by the residents is one of the major reasons for the COVID-19 cases increments.

Isamotu revealed this via a press statement in Osogbo capital city of osun state on Thursday.

The fresh index were uncovered sequence contact monitoring of earlier cases in the Ilesa, Ile Ife and Osogbo community of the State.

According to his statement, “But with the sentence of a defaulter to 30 days’ imprisonment, we have shown our resolve to enforce these safety protocols and guidelines.”

Commissioner urged all residents of the State to always follow all the guidelines laid down by the State against the extension of the deadly virus.

The Health Commissioner also made it kmown that with the fresh cases, the number of announced in the State has hit 151 with 87 active cases.

“Lack of strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines by our people is one of the main reasons for the sudden rise in our COVID-19 cases. But with the sentence of a defaulter to 30 days’ imprisonment, we have shown our resolve to enforce these safety protocols and guidelines.

“With the latest development, the number of our active cases as at today, Thursday, July 2, is 87. We have 151 confirmed cases, out of which the State has successfully treated and discharged 59 patients while five deaths have been recorded,” Dr. Isamotu added.
