The Minister of Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, on Monday, released the details on resumption of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Minister of Education, while discussing at the daily conference of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID, said they have had meeting with team who mount pressures on the Federal government to lift ban on universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

Nwajiuba stated that COVID-19 is still highly infectious, while compulsory protocols have not been in place by the institutions yet.

The Minister said, “We have reviewed responses from about 78 universities already, most of which are private universities who are insistent that they are ready to go.

“From the state-owned universities, we have a 50-50 response and we are working to upscale that and make sure that everybody is actually ready to go."

Nwajiuba, however, explicitly favourably outcome that the institutions would soon resume, but said he would not communicate the date yet.
