Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has disclosed that Anambra International Cargo Airport, situated at Umueri will be inaugurated in April 2021.

Governor revealed this on Thursday, while executing the official innovative ceremony of Anambra Luxury Place Estate, a public, private partnership project between Anambra state government and Rotech Energy Services Limited in Nkwelle, near Onitsha.

Obiano said, “The Anambra international cargo airport will be inaugurated in April next year. It will be one of the best in the country".

The  Governor motivate the residents of Anambra to commit money in the luxury estate, saying that the Nkwelle G.R.A project, which he disclose as 10 minutes drive from the airport.

“The airport is just 10 minutes drive from here, and a few kilometres from Onitsha town. Itis strategically located and is a worthwhile investment.”

Obiano thank the advertizer of the project, Chief Austin Oguejiofor who is the Chairman/Chief Executive of Rotech Energy Services Ltd for heeding to his government’s ‘Aku Luo Uno’ ask and appeal Ndi Anambra who have established wealth outside the community to also think investing some of their wealth in Anambra state.

Meanwhile the Opposition party in the state had discard the airline project in 2017 as a campaign strategy by the governor to win reelection.

Femi Fani-Kayode, Former aviation minister, who exsmine the project weeks back testified that work as gone far on the project, and that the airport will be outstanding among others in the country when completed.
