The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology is working it hard on the plans to establish the aims group for the achievement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts of lifting 100 million Nigeria citizens out of poverty in the next 10 years.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, disclose this in Abuja at the establishment of a Technical Committee for boosting commercialization of the ministry’s research products to fast-track the actualisation of Nigeria’s dream of becoming a self-reliant nation, NAN reports.

Ogbonnaya stated that the advantage of research could only be gainful when it is totally commercialized, he also said that the ministry will work with organized private sector in that regard.

Minister said that the Ministry will wirk hard to use its research outputs as catalyst for realizing government’s plans of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.

Ogbonnaya said that research products from the 17 agencies under the ministry covered all scope of the economy and that the ministry was well positioned to transformed the economy.

Ogbonnaya said further that, the commercialization of research outputs is very essential for economic development as more products will be manufactured locally.

In addition he said that part of the expected merits of research outputs included food sufficiency and surplus for exports, leading to significant reduction in import from other countries.

Ogbonnaya said that the commercialization of research outputs will establish more opportunities for citizen of the country as well as reduce unemployment rate in the country.
