The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Saturday disclosed that the agency was obligated to the next via its tax and measures for the governorship poll in Edo State.

The commission was responding to accusations by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of its conspiracy by agents of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to shortchange election results where the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is ranking first, most especially in Edo North.

However, Festus Okoye, who is the INEC National Commissioner and chairman (Information and Voter Education Committee), clear the air albeit there were challenges posed by poor signal in some of its region, “our Registration Area Technical Assistants are working hard at overcoming the challenges.”

He said in his statement, “The commission is irrevocably committed to following through its processes and procedures. As at 18: 49 pm, 702 results have been uploaded in the INEC Result Viewing Portal.

“Our Presiding Officers are uploading Form EC8A which is the Polling Unit Result. Presiding Officers must complete Form EC 60E (The People’s Result Sheet) and past at the Polling Unit.

“We understand the challenges posed by poor network in some of our communities and our Registration Area Technical Assistants are working hard at overcoming the challenges. The commission is focused on completing the process.

“The commission is not interested in the outcome but focused on the processes and procedures.”

Festus prayed that the election will go on peacefully and that the will of the Edo residents will be allowed to prevail.
