Atiku Abubakar, the Nigeria Former Vice President and the flag bearer of People Democratic Party in th e last Presidential election has said that, there is obligation for amending the Nigeria Police force to be more civil to the citizen of Nigeria.

The former vice President also noted that the dispersal of the SARS unit by the Inspector General Police is very right.

Atiku Abubakar said this after his visit to General Ibrahim Babangida the former military president of Nigeria at his uphill residence in Minna, Niger State.

Nigeria Former Vice President said, the SARS units are not operating according to what they were trained to do, also said that, he had already released a statement on his decision on the call for the disbandment of SARS.

Atiku statement read in part, ” The eventual banning of the unit by IGP Mohammed Adamu is in order. The Police, especially, the SARS unit, is no longer operating based on its mandate of securing the country and its citizens.

“It is unfortunate that men of the Police who were trained to protect the citizens have now turned their guns against unarmed citizens.”

Concerning his visit to General Ibrahim Babangida, Atiku told newsmen that he came on a private visit.

Atiku got to the Minna airport to meet with General Ibrahim Babangida at about 1.23 pm on a flight T7-AAA following by his wife, Titi Abubakar and Senator Abdul Ningi.

Atiku was welcome by former Niger Governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu and other PDP Chieftains in the state at the airport.
