The Osogbo Magistrates’ Court jailed three teenagers and one other to five years imprisonment for sneak out from police custody.

The convicted people include Segun Isola, 18; Maliq Odewale, 18; and Pelumi Ayoola, 15 and Adeleke Azeez, 20.

They were sentenced on a three-count charge bordering on illegal freedom and intentionally destroyed police station.

The culprits were previously put in police custody at Ilesa Correctional Center on 28th July, 2020.

According to the judgement, Magistrate Abayomi Ajala send the culprits to two years imprisonment for the first count charge, two years for second count charge and one year for third count charge to run concurrently or option of fine of N9,000 with six stroke of cane each.

Meanwhile, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, Police prosecutor, explained the court that the culprits committed the offence on 27th July, 2020 around 3:00am at Dugbe police station Osogbo

Inspector repoted that the culprits willingly destroyed the iron door and the roofing sheet of Dugbe police station and sneak out from custody.

The offence committed was against to and punishable under Sections 516, 135(a) and 151(b) Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2002.

The gangs accept the guilty to the allegations against them. 

Adedoyin Ajewole, the Defence Counsel, prayed the court to caution and discharge the culprits saying the convicts are teen and if jailed, may be depraved at the Correctional Centre.
