Rep. Raheem Olawuyi, member representing Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, on Monday, donated some materials to the inmates of Omu-Aran Correctional Centre in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara.

Some of the items donated to the inmates includes mattresses, blankets and mosquito nets.

Ajuloopin , while handing over the the items to the centre officials at the constituency office in Omu-Aran, also promised to dig a well as a temporary measure toward solving the centre's challenge of water shortage.

Ajulo-opin, represented by Hon Lanre Agas, the constituency Chief of Staff, said his representation would continue to give utmost priority toward addressing the various challenges confronting the constituents within the available resources.

He urged the correctional centre inmates to strive toward being better and responsible citizens after serving their jail terms.

Ajulo-opin, also pleaded with the inmates, through the officials, not to lose hope but to be prayerful and see their predicaments as temporary set-back in their lives.

According to him, everything happens for a purpose.

“Please tell them to see their recent status has not permanent, and with prayers and good morals, there is still a brighter light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

The lawmaker advised the inmates to key into the Federal Government prisons reform initiative by embracing skill acquisition and vocation in order to be self-reliant.

“I think there are lots of things they can can learn through the initiative for them to become better and responsible citizens.

“God can turn any situation around and theirs will not be an exception.

"We are aware of the challenge of perennial water shortage confronting the centre and as I'm talking to you we have started the digging of a well as part of temporary measures,” he said.

He commended the management of the centre for its dedication to duty and commitment toward ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of the inmates.

Receiving the items on behalf of the centre, the duo of Mr Ogunbiyi Tunde and Mr Ibrahim Mohammed, thanked Ajulo-opin for the gesture and promised judicious use of the materials.

They described the donation as very timely and highly beneficial and promised to convey the lawmaker's messages and advises to the inmates.

It would be recalled that Rep Ajulo-opin had earlier on two occasions of Eid-el-Kabir and Christmas visited the centre and donated food items to the inmates.
