The Federal Government has declared a three-day public holiday for the Christmas and New Year anniversary.

The three days are Friday 25th, Monday 28th of December 2020 also Friday, January 1st, 2021 respectively.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuaib M.L Belgore, declared this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja to mark the Christmas and New Year anniversary respectively.

The statement also said further that Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior assent the dates on behalf of the Federal Government.

Aregbesola appealed Christians to follow the footstep of Jesus Christ on faith, hope and love.

Aregbesola, while counseling all Nigerians to remain steadfast, determined, patient and patriotic, emphasized confidence that 2021 would be a better year for all Nigerians as he appealing Christians to use this great period to pray for Nigeria.

His statement read, “We must emulate the life of humility, service, compassion, patience, peace and righteousness that the birth and ministry of Jesus Christ signified, that will be the best way to know Christ and celebrate his birth.

“The Minister who reiterated the Federal Government’s avowed commitment to the fight against armed banditry, kidnappings and other crimes and criminalities in the country, called on Nigerians to support the efforts of the security agencies by providing them with information that will enhance intelligence gathering.”

He said further that, “He wished all Nigerians and Christians in particular, a happy Christmas and New Year Celebrations.”
