Retired Domkat Yah Bali, one of the General of the Nigerian Army, is Late.

General Bali(rtd), who was until his last breath the Ponzhi Tarok, served as the Minister of Defence and member of the Supreme Military Council of 1984–1985.

Late General was also a member of the Armed Forces Ruling Council of 1985–1990. 

Domkat Yah Bali was enrolled in to the Nigerian Army in 1961 and was recognized by the Royal Military Academy Sandhurs.

President Muhammadu Buhari, while reacting to the demised of Bali according to the statement signed by Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, expressed his sympathy with the residents and Plateau State government.

The First Citizen said Bali had a distinguished military career having promoted through the ranks and reaching the zenith as Chief of Defence Staff.

According to the statement said that Buhari “believes the records of bravery and patriotism of Gen. Bali, the Ponzhi Tarok, will continue to inspire young military officers, while the foundation he laid in all the commands he headed will always be remembered.”

The President, according to Garba, has also set up a representative led by the Minister of Defence, Maj-Gen. Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) to pay a condolence visit to the family.
