The Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Oyelola Ashiru, visited the palace of Onijan of Ijan Otun, Oba Aaron Omoniyi Aransiola, for an on the spot assessment of the palace that was shattered by fire. 

It was reported that in the early hours of Sunday, fire gutted the palace due to power surge from the electricity provider, this caused a lot of pandemonium that villagers came out in numbers to the rescue of the Kabiesi and  his family. 

While giving account of the incident, Oba Aaron stressed on the loss recorded, which includes 6 crowns, staff of office, documents, among many other valuables, but no death was recorded. 

Since the ugly incident, the Kabiesi has moved to his personal house beside the palace, while calling on the State Government and indigene of Ijan- Otun to come to the aide of his town to rebuild a befitting palace.

In his response, Senator Ashiru who was conferred as the Bobajoko of Ijan- Otun in 2002, assured the Kabiesi his contribution for the new palace building and promised to do this in earnest.  

Also, The Senator met the Kabiesi with other monarchs, Oniwo of Iwo Odoorin, Onigbin of Oke-Onigbin, Eletu of Sanmora, Hon. Olabanji, Kwara South APC Chairman, Hon. Tajudeen Abioye, amongst other prominent visitors. 

In the same vein, Senator Ashiru visited the palace of Onigbin of Oke-Onigbin, Oba Kamaldeen Salaudeen Tayo Abeegun II. Recall that the palace that is under construction had partial collapse last year.

The Oba of Oke-Onigbin enjoined the Senator to attend the fund raising for the building of a modernized palace that will be organized later this year.
