Samuel Ortom on Sunday, said the recent security challenges rocking Nigeria shows that Nigeria is “sick and on life support gasping for breath”.

The Benue State Governor, revealed this in Makurdi, Benue state capital on Sunday during a visit by members of the State Executive Council, traditional rulers and other stakeholders, sequence the assassination attempt on him on Saturday.

The Governor disclosed that the unruly attempt would rather energized his stand to discharge God’s divine agenda for Benue, adding that what he needed from the Benue residents was prayers.

Ortom said further that the position he occupied as a Governor was divine, emphasized that the evil decision against him would always be in futility.

Benue State Governor recognized the quick action of the Inspector General of Police by deploying a police detectives personnel to make enquiries on the unruly attempt on him and said Fulani Nationality Movement, FUNAM had already claimed responsibility for the assassination attempt and should be apprehended and questioned.

 Professor Anthony Ijohor, SAN, who is the Secretary to the Benue State Government, SSG, spoke in respect of the State Executive Council, appreciate God for protecting the Governor, saying the evil ganged up against the Governor would always fail.

Benue State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sir John Ngbede, Chairman Governing Council of the Benue State University, Professor Zacharys Gundu and Dr Cletus Tyokyaa, were delighted that the attackers did not succeed, emphasized that it would have lead to serious havic if they were succeeded.

Tor Lobi, Chief Moses Anagende, Head of Service, Mrs Veronica Onyeke and a member of the Middle-Belt Forum, Engineer Ben Akaakar, all castigates the unruly attack, saying God would expose and bring the assassinators to book.

Meanwhile, The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Benue state chapter has reacted to the  Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, assassination attempt by suspected herdsmen.

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, while denouncing the failed attack, however, cautioned citizen of Nigeria from politicizing crime.
